The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam (RCO) will be the scheme to open with its performance, the ‘Kypria’ International Festival 2018, that will begin on September 1st.
RCO will be performing in Cyprus for the first time.
Gripping Richard Wagner and sensational Gustav Mahler’s notes will welcome the festival’s audience on the first day. Daniele Gatti will conduct the orchestra and young musicians of Cyprus will perform Wagner’s prelude to ‘Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg’ (1868).
“Clever Little Lies” by Joe DiPietro is staged from September 5 to 8 in Nicosia and Limassol, starring Katia Dandoulaki, Giorgos Partsalakis, Alberto Fais and Danae Skiadi.
On September 9, 10 and 11 Martino Tirimo and Atsuko Kawakami will perform “The Dance In The Music” in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos, in memory of Nicholas Economou, on the occasion of 25 years since his death.
The world-acclaimed Martha Graham Dance Company will perform in Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia on September 12, 14 and 16, respectively.
On September 14 and 15, those who love jazz should not miss the “Captivating Jazz” with the Ioannou/Vafeas Quartet featuring Grant Stewart.
Festival organizers have said that this will be the first time the Cypriot audience will see Grant Stewart live on stage. He is considered “one of the best saxophonists of our time.”
The festival will cover the tastes of all ages as it features special performances for children also, including Hansel and Gretel and Ntenekedoupoli (“Tin City”).
“The servant of two masters”, a major play by Carlo Goldoni and “Echo” by Join the Dots, with Marilena Kyriakou, Georgina Tatsi et al. are among the performances one can enjoy this year at the ‘Kypria’ International Festival.
