This Privacy Policy explains how Go Visit Cyprus (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit www.govisitcyprus.com (the “Website”), and what choices and rights you have. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller of your personal data on this Website is Go Visit Cyprus, a trading name of Manfredk Website Design, Leoforos Cavo Greco, Protaras 5296, Cyprus.

We process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Cypriot data protection and electronic communications law.

2. What personal data we collect

Data you give us

• Emails and inquiries. If you email us (for example with a question, a correction, or an advertising or partnership inquiry), we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message.
• Comments. If you leave a comment on a page, we collect the name, email address and website (if any) you enter in the comment form, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam.

Data collected automatically

• Technical data. Our web server and hosting systems record technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you request, the referring website and the date and time of the request.
• Usage and advertising data. If you consent to the relevant cookie categories, analytics and advertising or affiliate tools may collect information about how you use the Website (pages viewed, clicks, approximate location, device data) and cookie or advertising identifiers. See sections 4 and 5.
• Consent record. We keep a record of your cookie choices so that we can respect them and show that consent was given.

We do not ask for, and do not intentionally collect, sensitive categories of personal data (such as health, religion or political opinions). Please do not include such information in your emails or comments. We do not take bookings or payments on the Website, so we do not receive your payment card details.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Third-party services, embeds and affiliate partners

The Website includes content and tools provided by other companies. When these load, the provider may receive your IP address and other technical data and may set or read cookies. Each provider acts as an independent controller for its own use of that data and has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read. Where consent is required, these services are only activated after you accept the relevant cookie category.

• Maps and embeds. Google Maps embedded on some pages. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
• Accommodation, tours, car hire and travel services. Widgets and links from Stay22, GetYourGuide, Viator, Booking.com, Trip.com and similar providers. If you click through and book, your booking is a contract between you and the provider, and your data is handled under their policy, not ours.
• Affiliate networks and partner programmes. Some links use affiliate tracking (for example through CJ Affiliate, Skyscanner, SafetyWing, Simify and the Amazon Associates programme). They use cookies or link parameters to record that a booking or purchase came from our Website so that we can be paid a commission. We receive reports about commissions earned; we do not receive your name, contact details or payment information from these reports.
• Analytics. If you accept statistics cookies, we use an analytics service (for example Google Analytics) to understand which pages are read and how visitors find the Website.
• Advertising. If you accept marketing cookies, advertising partners (for example Google AdSense) may show ads and use cookies to measure or personalize them.
• Fonts. Fonts may be loaded from Google Fonts, which means your IP address may be sent to Google when a page loads.
• Profile pictures. If you comment, an anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture. See automattic.com/privacy.

5. Cookies and consent

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use a consent banner that groups cookies into four categories:

• Functional (always active). Strictly necessary for the Website to work and to remember your consent choices. These do not need your consent.
• Preferences. Remember settings you choose, such as saved comment details.
• Statistics. Help us understand how the Website is used.
• Marketing. Used for advertising and for affiliate tracking.

We only set Preferences, Statistics and Marketing cookies if you accept them. You can accept, deny or customize your choices in the banner, and you can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the “Privacy settings” link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the Website may then not work as intended.

The standard WordPress software running the Website may also set cookies: if you comment and choose to save your details, a comment cookie lasts up to one year; and site administrators receive login cookies that do not affect ordinary visitors. The exact list of services and cookies in each category is shown in the consent banner settings.

6. Who we share your data with

We share personal data only where needed and only with:

• Service providers that help us run the Website, such as web hosting and infrastructure, email, security and spam-filtering providers, who process data on our instructions;
• The third parties described in section 4, when you accept the relevant cookies or click through to their services; and
• Authorities, courts or advisers where we are legally required to, or need to protect our rights.

If we ever change how we handle your data in a way that would need your consent, we will ask you first.

7. International transfers

Some of the providers above, such as Google and other international companies, may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards permitted by the GDPR, such as an adequacy decision (for example the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified companies) or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards that apply.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS, access controls and regular software updates. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you email us, please avoid sending sensitive information.

9. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

• Emails and inquiries: for as long as needed to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
• Comments: until the comment is deleted, or until you ask us to remove it.
• Server logs and technical data: for a limited period needed for security and troubleshooting.
• Analytics and advertising data: for the retention period set in the relevant tool, or until you withdraw consent and the cookies expire.
• Consent records: for as long as needed to show that we respected your choices.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• be informed about, and access, the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data erased, in certain circumstances;
• restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on our legitimate interests;
• data portability, in certain circumstances; and
• withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise your rights, email us at 4mk80@proton.me. We may need to verify your identity, and we will normally respond within one month. Some rights are subject to legal limits, for example where we must keep data for legal or security reasons.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. In Cyprus this is the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (www.dataprotection.gov.cy). If you live elsewhere in the EU, you can complain to the authority in your country. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

11. Children

The Website is a general travel information site and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Links to other websites

The Website links to other websites, including our other Govisit destination websites and third-party providers. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Each site has its own privacy policy, which you should read.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law or in the services we use. The latest version will always be on this page with the “Last updated” date shown at the top. If we make significant changes, we will make that clear on the Website.
